50 years of optical research has enabled Essilor to develop unique ophthalmic innovations for presbyopes.

Our most recent innovations:

In 2006, Essilor created the first lens for high resolution vision. Varilux Physio varifocal lenses integrate optical technologies from the field of astronomy.

In 2008, Varilux Ipseo New Edition varifocal lens was launched. A personalised lens that follows each wearer's unique visual behaviour.  The lens design was perfected using optical research into “virtual reality.” 

Recently, Essilor created 'the Varilux Experience' movie, designed to give the viewer an insight into the visual performance of Varilux progressive or varifocal lenses. This cutting-edge movie was projected in 3D with the viewer wearing special 3D glasses.

The journey of a young presbyope who tries single vision lenses, then bifocal lenses, then standard varifocal lenses, and finally Varilux lenses in an attempt to find perfect natural vision. A sure fire way to experience the superiority of a custom lens!
